Purpose
Tasik Kenyir was born after it was flooded for the purpose of providing water-powered
electricity through its only exit - the Sultan Mahmud Hydro Electric Power Plant.
Thus, hilltops and highlands were submerged, creating an array of 340 islands,
more than 14 waterfalls and numerous rapids, caves and rivers. Tasik Kenyir
contains numerous species of freshwater fishes and wildlife, don't worry, no
alligators. A myriad of flora and fauna awaits the keen eye adventurer.
